Market Cap, Volume and Liquidity
Market capitalization estimates network value from price and circulating supply; volume measures reported trading activity; liquidity describes how easily orders can execute near the quoted price. None is sufficient alone.
Market cap is price multiplied by supply
The calculation does not mean that the same amount of cash entered the asset. A small trade can set the latest price applied to every circulating unit. Verify supply definitions and distinguish current market cap from fully diluted estimates.
Volume needs venue context
Reported volume can include different pairs, time windows and venue quality. Compare several reputable sources, identify whether activity is concentrated and check whether the volume translates into actual order-book depth.
Liquidity is about executable size
A liquid market has tighter spreads and enough orders near the current price for the intended trade size. Slippage increases when a market is thin. A high headline volume does not guarantee deep liquidity at every moment.
Use a combined checklist
Review supply, venue concentration, spreads, depth, token unlocks and the size of the planned order. Document the data timestamp because these metrics can change rapidly.
