AION Explained
Building a Crypto Portfolio with Risk Controls
Crypto portfolio construction starts with the amount a person can afford to lose, then defines position limits, custody, liquidity and rebalancing rules before choosing assets.
Set the loss boundary first
Separate emergency savings, near-term obligations and borrowed money from speculative capital. Crypto volatility and operational loss can be severe, so the allocation decision is more important than selecting a precise entry price.
Diversification needs real differences
Holding many tokens does not guarantee diversification when they depend on the same market cycle, bridge, stablecoin, exchange or narrative. Map common dependencies and concentration by asset, sector, custodian and network.
Define rules before volatility
Write maximum position sizes, rebalancing intervals, conditions for reducing exposure and the evidence required to add a new asset. Avoid changing the plan only because a price is rising.
Include custody and liquidity
A portfolio is not usable if keys are lost or orders cannot execute. Match custody to transaction frequency, test withdrawals, document recovery and consider slippage and tax consequences before rebalancing.
Frequently asked questions
Does holding several cryptocurrencies guarantee diversification?
No. Many crypto assets share the same liquidity, market sentiment, technology or counterparty risks. Diversification requires examining dependencies, not merely counting tickers.
